Grammys: Have Rock Stars Officially Stopped Partying?

What ever happened to rock 'n' roll?

As the dust settles on the hard-won trophies for the likes of Frank Ocean, Beyonce, and Mumford & Sons, we couldn't help but notice -- Grammy celebrating this year was terribly civilized.

Evidence? By far the most well-attended party was brunch. You heard us: artisanal jams and mimosas have replaced hotel-room-trashing, late nights that become late mornings, and an edgier vibe that can radiate from a dangerous mix of talent.

Referring to Roc Nation's annual private fete atop West Hollywood's Soho House, the guest list read like the Grammy nominee slate.

Bey, Jay-Z, Solange Knowles, Rihanna, and Chris Brown, Kylie Minogue, Timbaland, Ellen Pompeo, and Wale all turned up for some white linen treatment and casual conversation.

Also that afternoon Ellie Goulding, Florence + and the Machine, Imagine Dragons, and a roster of UMG artists performed a private showcase for Universal Music Group’s CEO Lucian Grainge at Lure. Katy Perry was there to support as well, but didn’t perform.

Sure, Clive Davis still commands black tie and some stellar performances, but Sunday night went out with a whistle, not a howl.

Republic Records drew Record of the Year winner Gotye for a toast and some dancing with the likes of Kelly Rowland. Monster brought Alicia Keys, Swizz Beatz and Ne-Yo to the House of Hype at the SLS Hotel.

Justin Timberlake had a blast in Hollywood, but staged a full-on concert. Not the same as an afterparty.

InStyle magazine took over the Chateau Marmont, which was filled to the gills with fashion types sipping rose.

Don't get us wrong -- we love good, clean fun. But this was music's biggest night. Why so turned down?
