Every year, the Middleton family decamps to the glamorous isle of Mustique in the Caribbean, where they play beach volleyball, sing a cappella numbers with perfect pitch, and take turns brushing Kate's hair. Or so we imagine. Last week, Kate arrived (with George in tow) for the 2014 iteration of The Middletons Do Mustique. Last year, William joined the vacay; this year, however, he is stuck in England, as he is not quite finished with his ten-week agricultural-studies course. So while William downs Red Bull in the library and writes papers with single spacing, crossing his fingers they will reach the page minimum when he clicks "double space," Kate is basking in the sun, getting oil massages, and texting him selfies taken in the sand and pictures of exotic birds ("This one kind of looks like that weird purple hat Camilla wore to brunch that time, right???! lol").

In a picture just released-splashed on the cover of Hello!-Kate and George, six months old now, are seen making their way onto a private jet after disembarking a British Airways flight. George looks perfect-no surprise-in a white and light-blue-striped sun hat. He's looking down, away from the lens, unsmiling, as if to say: "You cross me, you'll get the Lupo treatment, if you know what I mean." Kate, meanwhile, is sporting her beloved Breton-striped Ralph Lauren top, famously seen in the midriff-baring volleyball pictures that nearly resulted in banks and schools in London closing for the day when they were released.

Michael and Carole Middleton, as well as marshmallow maven James, and sister Pippa, are said to be in attendance (the Daily Mail notes the holiday was "in part organized to celebrate" Carole's 59th birthday, which took place last week). And there is other news to celebrate, as well, as it was just announced that Kate has written the foreward to an upcoming book, "a collection of stories told by the wives of Royal Air Force servicemen." (An excerpt: "I can't pretend I didn't feel anxious when William was flying in challenging conditions, but he loved it and I felt incredibly proud of him.") No doubt, thanks to her hundred or so words, the book will break Harry Potter's sales record in the U.K. when it comes out in May and improbably get turned into a movie adaptation, in which she'll play the lead (we know she's got the training!) and nab an Academy Award nod.
