Local MediaCorp actor Qi Yuwu suffered cuts to his face, neck, and legs when his car was involved in a six-car pile-up on Tuesday night along Upper Thomson Road.

According to Chinese daily Lianhe Wanbao, Qi, 35, had been driving home around 10 pm when the accident happened.

His car had been the second last of the six cars, and the impact of the crash activated his airbags, injuring him in the face.

A police spokesman told Yahoo! Singapore that they received a call around 10:40 pm on Tuesday night informing them of an accident involving six cars along Upper Thomson Road, near Thomson Plaza.

A man, understood to be Qi, was taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital conscious where he received treatment, and was later transferred to Mount Elizabeth Hospital where he received three stitches for the cuts on his face and lips.

Qi told Lianhe Wanbao that doctors have told him that the cuts were unlikely to leave a scar, and had advised him to avoid eating foods which could delay the healing of his injuries.

The Guangzhou-native's parents also flew down from China to Singapore after hearing about his accident.

When asked if he would be able to make it for the second part of the Star Awards 2012 ceremony this coming Sunday at Marina Bay Sands, Qi said he was "not sure".

The president of his 180-member fan club, Yuwu Paradise, told Yahoo! Singapore that she had received a message from MediaCorp informing them of his accident yesterday, and that the club had sent back their well-wishes.

"We will be getting him flowers and gifts like the past 6 years for this year's Star Awards. He has conveyed to us that he is better and ask his fans not to be worried." said the fan club president, who declined to be named.

She also said that they would still be attending the Star Awards on Sunday in support of Qi, who has been nominated for a Best Actor award for his role in Channel 8 drama C.L.I.F.

He won Best Actor last year for his role as a lawyer in legal drama The Family Court.
