Ever wondered how much Singapore’s Electronic Road Pricing system collects each year?

Minister for Transport Lui Tuck Yew revealed in Parliament on Wednesday that the erection of 80 ERP gantries island-wide has collected more than S$400 million since 2009.

That works out to roughly $150 million each year.

$149 million was collected in 2009.

$159 million in 2010.

$97 million was collected last year until end October.

Responding to a question by Non-Constituency Member of Parliament Lina Chiam, Minister Lui assured the public that ERP is serving its purpose of managing congestion instead of
generating revenue.

And what about the gantry that generates the highest revenue?

That honour belongs to the Nicoll Highway gantry which collects $32,000 a day. In contrast, the gantry at Upper Boon Keng Road – which operates only for 30 minutes each day -- takes in about $130 a day.

In related motoring news, COE premiums for cars rose in the latest bidding exercise.

Premiums for cars up to 1,600cc ended at $48,112, up from $46,889 two weeks ago.

The Open COE rose from $65,700 to finish at $67,101.
