Dunder-Mifflin is gearing up to close up shop.

On Tuesday, Greg Daniels, who is returning as showrunner to NBC comedy "The Office," announced during a conference call with reporters that the series will wrap up for good at the end of the upcoming ninth season.

"The reason that I've come back to the show is that we have thought about what the future of the show should be, and have always held the value that we should feel like a family," the showrunner said, per Variety. "This year feels like the last chance to really go out together and make an artistic ending of the show."

And - unlike the British series, which bowed out after two seasons (and a Christmas special), the NBC version of "The Office" will end with a peek behind the curtain.

Greg said fans will finally see "who's behind the documentary."

"And we're going to meet some of them," he added, according to the trade mag.

"The Office" boss said 15 members of the cast are returning for Season 9 and although there is new blood this season, they wanted to give the main players a proper ending.

"I think this feeling of family and wanting to wrap up these arcs and do justice to the existing characters in the most creative and explosive way means the show will be changed in such a way that if anything was to continue, it just wouldn't be the same show," he told reporters, per Variety.

"This is going to be a real gangbusters season, so I think people will think it was worth it," he added.

Addressing the news on Tuesday afternoon, Bob Greenblatt, NBC's Chairman of Entertainment, released a statement telling fans they can expect a "treat" in the final season.

"'The Office' is a classic, award-winning television comedy and all of us at NBC couldn't be prouder to have produced and telecast the series as it heads into its ninth season," his statement to Access Hollywood read. "Greg Daniels, the cast, and crew have some terrific storylines planned for the final season. Fans are in for a treat. It's always difficult to see these kinds of shows come to an end, but we are honoring the cast's and producers' desire to make this the final season."

In related news, Majandra Delfino (formerly of "Roswell") recently joined the cast of "The Office" Dwight Schrute-related spinoff, "The Farm," according to Entertainment Weekly.

She will play Dwight's younger sister.
