OWE CEO charged with rape

9 May – After his recent arrest for sexually assaulting trainees, the CEO of Open World Entertainment, Jang Seok-woo has finally been charged with rape and sexual harassment.

As reported on AllKpop website, the Supreme Prosecutors' Office revealed that Mr. Jang was charged for rape and violation of child protection laws. According to prosecution, the CEO had sexually assaulted several female trainees under his agency from the course of 2010 to 2012.

However, despite a lot of news reporting about Jang forcing male celebrities to participate in the sexual assault, the accusation has been dropped and therefore the indictment cannot be done.

A representative from the prosecutor's office explained the latter, "Since there are no threats or violence involved with female trainees (i.e, not avoiding the situation), the case involving the CEO and male celebrities fall under use of authority or power to enter into sexual relations. And since the cases under such category must be reported within one year of occurrence and were not reported, we do not have the right to indict the CEO."
