Undang-undang baru untuk ganti Ordinan Darurat, kata Zahid

Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi (gambar) mengatakan draf pertama set undang-undang baru untuk menggantikan Akta Ordinan Darurat kini berada di Jabatan Peguam Negara.

Menteri Dalam Negeri itu berkata kerajaan bersetuju untuk menggubal undang-undang baru berikutan peningkatan jenayah selepas pemansuhan Akta Ordinan Darurat dan Akta Kediaman Terhad.

"Kita mengalu-alukan idea dan cadangan baru daripada semua pihak termasuk pemimpin pembangkang dan organisasi bukan kerajaan bagi memastikan undang-undang baru itu berkesan," katanya.

Ahmad Zahid mengatakan beliau mahu kerjasama dari pembangkang dan badan bukan kerajaan (NGO).

“Mereka boleh salurkan cadangan mereka kepada saya dan saya mahu mereka bersetuju dengannya. Jadi jika kita tidak menerima apa-apa cadangan, jangan datang kepada saya dan merungut apabila undang-undang diperkenalkan,” katanya.

Zahid mengatakan Kementerian Dalam Negeri akan mewujudkan pasukan petugas khas untuk mengesan pengedar dadah dan penjual yang bebas kerana Ordinan Darurat dimansuhkan.

Beliau bagaimanapun tidak memberitahu agensi mana yang akan digunakan untuk mengesan pengedar dadah.

“Kami dapati pengedar dadah antara 2,600 tahanan dari Simpang Renggam kembali kepada urusan lama selepas dua undang-undang dimansuhkan,” katanya di Jalan Raja Alang hari ini.

Pengumuman Zahid itu hadir selepas Menteri di Jabatan Perdana Menteri Nancy Shukri memberitahu Parlimen pada Isnin kerajaan telah menyediakan undang-undang baru untuk menggantikan Akta Ordinan Darurat bagi menangani jenayah yang semakin meningkat.

Sementara Ahli Parlimen Puchong Gobind Singh Deo hari ini menyalahkan kerajaan kerana peningkatan jenayah.

"Kerajaan perlu menerima dan mengakui keputusan awal untuk memansuhkan undang-undang dibuat dengan tergesa-gesa, tanpa kajian yang betul dan tidak memberi perhatian sewajarnya mengenai akibat daripada tindakan tersebut.” - 4 Julai, 2013.
